How Dangerous is Distracted Driving?

Dangerous is Distracted Driving

Staying focused on the roads is the only way to drive!

The dangers of distracted driving are well-known at this point. Anything from texting on cell phones to futzing with the radio, to applying your make-up, can shift your focus from the road.

Unfortunately, newspapers, magazines, and the Internet report daily accounts of car accidents that have resulted from distracted driving. The numbers are ever-increasing with drivers using smartphones, and the invention of smart watches that make accessing technology a whole lot easier.

Distracted driving results from:

  • Eyes off the road – From staring at billboards to gawking at crash scenes, distractions divert your eyes from the road and what is happening in front of you. If the car in front stops suddenly, you could end up in a rear-end collision.
  • Daydreaming – If your mind is taking away from driving to focus on what your passengers are saying, your reaction times will only slow.
  • Hands off the wheel – Eating, drinking, using a cell phone, or reaching for fallen objects – refrain from doing any of these, as once your hands are off the wheel, you’re asking for trouble.

To distract yourself from the distractions, use these tips and be a safer driver:

  • Turn off your phone. Try putting your phone out of reach or shutting it down before you start driving. Out of sight, out of mind, right? Any text or call you receive while driving isn’t important enough to put your life, and other drivers’ lives, on the line.
  • Be organized. Whether you need to get out your parking pass, set your GPS, or apply a touch of lipstick, do it before turning on your car. That way, you’ll be better prepared, and you won’t need to take your eyes, hands, or mind off the road.
  • Find zen. We all need a little peace and quiet in our lives. Make your driving time quiet time to concentrate and be calm!

To better protect your drive, vehicle, and finances, secure yourself a quality auto insurance policy. For the best coverage at the best rate for you in Las Vegas, Nevada, contact All Nevada Insurance today.

Ways to Keep Your Employees Happy

Cheap Ways to Keep Your Employees Happy

Low-cost solutions to boost employee morale.

As your business takes off, the last thing on your mind is giving your employees any more than they need.

As you grow your business, you’ll face the dilemma of wanting to attract the best and brightest workers, but you can’t afford the high-dollar salary and brilliant benefits.

The good news is that a lot of employees are looking for more of a balance of salary and perks. In the long run, providing low-cost benefits can help you to attract loyal employees and compete for the top-tier of workers! Check out these low-cost ways to keep your employees happy.

  • Unlimited paid time off – You may be thinking that giving employees free reign of paid time off sounds like you’re going to see all play and no work. However, this freedom motivates employees to work harder and get tasks done so that they can enjoy their time off. With the right policies in place and trustworthy employees, this can be a good pay off for the individual and the company alike.
  • Telecommute – Give employees the option to work from home one day a week so that they can run errands, take care of their pets, and enjoy life – all while getting their work done. Additionally, you don’t have to pay for the electricity or gas to run your office one day a week!
  • Encourage breaks – Set up a designated quiet room for employees to take 10-minute relaxation breaks. Anything from a yoga mat to a comfy chair makes a good spot for workers to catch their breath.
  • Team building events – Take your staff to an off-site location to enjoy team building, at least once every six months. Whether it’s a potluck in the park on a Friday afternoon or a baseball game on Thursday, your team can strengthen through out-of-work interaction!
  • Let the dog out – More and more of us are adopting shelter pets and abandoned pups. While this shows our compassionate side, leaving them cooped up indoors all day. Designate a day where your employees can bring their dog to work so that they can feel at ease knowing that their 6-month old lab isn’t tearing up the sofa. Plus, who doesn’t love a quick cuddle with the four-legged friends?

One thing that your business shouldn’t have to worry about it coverage for accidents, lawsuits, and damages. For this all-encompassing business insurance, contact the professionals at All Nevada Insurance, serving Las Vegas and neighboring cities in Nevada!

Is Your Teen Behind the Wheel? Read This To Secure Them the Best Coverage!

Auto Insurance for Your Teen

Keep your children safe on the road by enforcing good driving habits and reliable protection.

The time has come for your teenager to take the wheel. Before you let them into the driver’s seat, it’s important to ensure that your child is ready to stay safe on the roads.

It’s no secret that teenagers cost more to insure on any auto insurance policy. Their inexperience on the roads can result in accidents, as well as their daredevil need for speed.  Any parent can add their qualified teenager to their car insurance policy to receive reliable protection.

Passing the keys to your teenage driver is a monumental moment for yourself and your child. Doing this results in the addition of your child to the family car, or their own car’s, auto insurance policy.

Here’s what you need to know about the process:

When: Most insurance companies must be informed when your teen is driving your car with a permit. Once your teen passes the test and has a license in hand, then you must add them to the policy.

What: Note that a car of less value, or one with numerous safety features, will be cheaper to insure than a flashy, expensive car. A teen’s first car is going to get dinged and dented quickly, more often than not, so start them out on a safe second-hand car.

Behaviors: Encourage your child to remember the rules of the road and safe driving practices even after they have passed their test. A successful way to do this is to set a passenger limit, never let them use a phone whilst driving, and regularly drive with them to watch for bad habits.

Feedback: To keep an eye on your teen’s driving behavior, you can add a monitoring system to your teen’s car. This tracks certain aspects of driving such as speeding, seat belt usage, hard breaking, and arrival and departure time. This feature could reduce your auto insurance premium.

Savings: While your auto insurance rate will increase when adding your teen, you can control how much it goes up. Look for savings with Good Student Discounts!

Find out how much you can save when adding your teen to your auto insurance policy with All Nevada Insurance. Contact us for all of your insurance needs in Las Vegas and neighboring cities in Nevada, so that you, as a parent, can feel rest assured that protection is in place.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dried chickpeas
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup tahini (sesame paste), well stirred
  • 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for drizzling
  • 1 clove garlic
  • Juice of 2 lemons
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika, plus more for sprinkling
  • Salt
  • Pita bread and/or vegetable sticks, for serving

Directions

  1. Put the chickpeas in a strainer and pick through to remove any small stones; rinse well.
  2. Transfer the chickpeas to a large bowl and add 8 cups water; stir in the baking soda. Set aside to soak at room temperature for 12 to 24 hours.

With the machine running, add the tahini, olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, cumin, red pepper flakes, paprika, 1 teaspoon salt and the reserved cooking water; puree until smooth and creamy, about 5 minutes.

Grilling Season Has Arrived: Stay Safe with These Tips!

BBQ Month: Stay Safe at The Grill with These Tips

If you’re dusting off the barbecue this spring, be sure to stay safe.

Whether you’re hosting a neighborhood cookout, family get-together, or simply enjoying the sunshine one afternoon, a barbecue should always be used with safety and caution. Burning the food and the house down is a quick recipe to ruin your day and finances!

The National Fire Protection Association recorded that gas grills have been involved in an average of 7,200 home fires per year, while charcoal and other solid-fuel grills were involved in an average of 1,400 home fires per year.

With that said, before getting the barbecue up and running, check out these safety tips:

  • Keep grills on a level surface away from the house, garage, deck, or other structures, and away from children, pets, and landscaping.
  • They shouldn’t be used on a balcony or under overhanging vines or branches.
  • Soak coals in water and let them cool before disposing of them in a metal container.
  • Remember that grills remain hot long after you are through barbecuing.
  • Do not store propane tanks indoors.
  • Keep children and pets away from the barbeque at all times.
  • Do not proceed if you notice the gas tank leaking.
  • Never add charcoal starter fluid when coals have already been ignited.

Now that you’re on your way to safe grilling, be sure to secure your home with the reliable insurance to protect it from any loss from fire. Contact All Nevada Insurance in Las Vegas, Nevada for all of your homeowners insurance needs today.

Is Umbrella Insurance Worth Having in Las Vegas, NV?

Umbrella Insurance Las Vegas NV

Are you sheltered from the inclement weather with your umbrella insurance policy?

Insurance exists so you can clear the hurdle of the unexpected without shelling out your hard-earned savings. An umbrella insurance policy is essentially additional personal liability insurance. It extends a step beyond the limits of your insurance policies so that you don’t have to worry about expensive payouts from lawsuits or expenses.

Thus, if you get into an accident where the damages go above and beyond your limits of your personal insurance, you could be left in a less-than-ideal situation.

If you think you’re safe from needing umbrella coverage, check out the three instances below:

Car Coverage

With most auto insurance policies, the maximum amount of liability coverage you can buy is either $300,000 or $500,000 per accident, but damages in a lawsuit can easily add up to millions of dollars.

If you’re ever at fault for a major accident involving several cars carrying multiple passengers, your auto coverage may not cover enough to keep you from depleting your savings. Your auto policy may quickly become exhausted, which means that you’ll foot the bill for any remaining damages and medical bills.

An Unfortunate Visit

For those who have a swimming pool, trampoline, or playground equipment, should someone suffer a serious injury while playing, you could be responsible for some hefty medical bills and an expensive lawsuit. Your homeowners insurance policy offers a certain limit of liability protection, but anything over that is on you!

A Bite and A Bark

If your beloved pup nips someone, that person could cost you thousands of dollars in medical treatment and maybe even bring about a nasty lawsuit. Dog-bite liability can be particularly costly, depending on the damage done by your furry four-legged friend. If you max out any protection you may have on your homeowners policy, that gap in coverage could easily be thousands more than you’ve got in the bank!

Get Involved During Lyme Disease Awareness Month

Lyme Disease Awareness Month

May is National Lyme Disease Awareness Month.

May is recognized throughout the world as dedicated to raising awareness about Lyme Disease. Supported by the Lyme Disease Foundation, Lyme Disease Awareness Month is a campaign which promotes preventative measures that can (and should) be taken against this illness.

This illness is a potentially life-altering disease that is caused by bacteria, transmitted from the bite of a tick. Unfortunately, the incidence of Lyme disease is on the rise throughout the Western Hemisphere, as tick populations are expanding due to climate change.

Symptoms

This disease is often misdiagnosed. Early symptoms include a rash, fever, headaches, and fatigue. Should these symptoms be overlooked and the disease left untreated, then fatigue, mental health issues, arthritis and chronic encephalomyelitis can arise. As with many diseases, treatment is more effective if Lyme Disease is diagnosed early.

The Need for This Awareness Month

Due to climate change, the number of reported cases of Lyme Disease has steadily increased. May is dedicated to educating both the young and old about Lyme Disease and how they can take steps to prevent it. People who visit wooded areas, where ticks that carry the disease live, are encouraged to wear protective clothing and inspect their pets for ticks, too.

You can get involved during Lyme Disease Awareness Month in different ways:

  • Organize walks to raise funds for research on the disease
  • Attend a show of the Lyme documentary: Under Our Skin
  • Write letters to your local paper
  • Share information via social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) or tell your story through a YouTube video
  • Observe billboards which will be popping up in Wisconsin

Let us know how you are getting involved during this disease awareness month. So that you can focus on bettering your health and lifestyle, let All Nevada Insurance take care of your insurance needs. Contact us in Las Vegas, Nevada today!
