Las Vegas Joins International Ranks
Joining the likes of the inspiring international cities of Rio de Janeiro, Lisbon, and Madrid, Las Vegas has been announced as the fourth city to host the Rock in Rio music festival. It began in 1985 in Rio de Janeiro, and has grown to be one of the biggest music festivals in the world.
At a star-studded press conference in Times Square, Rock in Rio announced that its 30th anniversary event will be held over the weekend of May 8th and 9th (rock weekend) and May 15th and 16th (pop weekend) in Las Vegas. This will be the first time the festival has come to the United States, and promises to be an all-out party. Metallica, Linkin Park, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, Empire of the Sun, Joss Stone, Deftones, and John Legend have all been announced as part of the initial lineup for 2015.
To hold all of the excitement, Rock in Rio is teaming up with MGM Resorts International, Cirque du Soleil, and Ron Burkle to redefine musical festivals in America. The festival will be held in the “City of Rock,” which will be a custom-made, 37 acre permanent open-air concert venue. The City of Rock will hold six stages, a 64-foot-high zip line, and an air-conditioned area with a view of the City of Rock and a buffet so you can recover and refuel. Whether you are hoping to attend the rock or pop weekends, you can get your tickets here.
